From Nairobi to Lagos: ACT at Woven Threads VII

Africa Collect Textiles took its circular textile story to Lagos Fashion Week as part of Woven Threads VII: CRAFTED, presented in partnership with curator and researcher Sunny Dolat.

Held from 9–12 April 2026 in Lagos, the four-day experience brought together circular designers, innovators and industry leaders from across Africa. Through exhibitions, conversations and creative showcases, the programme explored circular design, material innovation, responsible production, craft education and waste justice.

ACT was featured among the participating circular fashion innovators, showcasing how unwanted textiles can be collected, sorted and transformed into new materials and products. Our participation demonstrated how locally developed solutions can address textile waste while contributing to a more responsible African fashion industry.

Why this Matters

ACT’s participation at Lagos Fashion Week strengthened our visibility within Africa’s growing circular fashion movement. It created opportunities to connect with designers, researchers and industry leaders who are rethinking how textiles are designed, produced, used and recovered.

The platform also showed that Africa is not only responding to global sustainability challenges; it is generating knowledge, creative ideas and practical circular solutions of its own. By bringing ACT’s textile-recovery work into this continental conversation, we are helping demonstrate the role Kenya can play in shaping a more sustainable and circular future for African fashion.
