The problem
For decades, Africa has carried the weight of secondhand clothing imports. Sooner or later these items become waste. Or obsolete. And there is a lot of new clothing and uniforms that come in. Local infrastructure can process only a small part of this. Huge amounts of textiles end up in dumpsites, rivers, or open fires. Damaging local economies and the environment.
The solution
At ACT, we tackle this challenge head-on. We collect used textiles locally and give them a new life. Some are reused through our charity and re-distribution programmes, others are up-cycled into new products that celebrate Kenyan craft, or down-cycled into useful materials.
But our work goes beyond that. Together we are building the infrastructure that keeps clothes out of landfills, protects the environment, and creates meaningful jobs.
We work across the value chain: from collection and sorting to up-cycling and circular design. Proving that fashion can be both fair and sustainable.
